Defense Minister: President monitors quarantine facilities closely

Minister for Defense, Mariya Ahmed Didi has stated that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih closely inspects the operations of the isolation and quarantine facilities established for COVID-19 in the Maldives.

The Minister stated in a tweet that the President oversees the food arrangements for those in quarantine and isolation at the facilities very closely.

“The President instructs to address any complaints, and many are grateful for the services provided at the facilities.” Said Minister Mariya in a tweet.

There are 1371 people in government quarantine facilities across the country, including many that returned to the country. 140 people are currently in isolation facilities.

A total of 12 quarantine facilities have been established in the country so far. The country has so far confirmed 191 cases of the virus and many are still being placed in quarantine after contact with positive cases.  Minister Ameen has previously stated that the government was considering home isolate positive cases and suspected cases due to a large number of such cases.
