National Emergency Operations Center spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez has said that the uncooperative patient that tested positive for Covid-19 is now complying with the contact tracing work of the authorities.
The Center had announced that one of the people who had tested positive for Covid-19 was refusing to aid in contact tracing and that the authorities were, therefore, preparing to release the identity of the person.
The individual was now complying with the authorities, said Mabrouq.
The development comes after the Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem had earlier warned that the whole nation could not be put in danger because of one individual and that the authorities would not allow this to happen.
PG Shameem warned that when it comes to contact tracing of virus-positive patients, the only choice was to cooperate and provide accurate information to the authorities or be imprisoned.
“After that, Police will seize the mobile phone of that person and collect information. A number of charges will be brought against the individual under the penal code. The charges may result in a sentence of more than a year.” Said Shameem who put it bluntly when he said that the individual had no choice but to speak the truth or go to jail.
