President reduces sentences of 105 inmates

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided to reduce the sentence of 105 inmates.

In a statement issued by the Home Ministry today, the sentence reduction of 105 inmates was announced. The statement read that the decision was to ensure the safety and security of prisoners and guards as well as everyone else involved in the work.

The sentence reduction reflected on the work and results of inmates in rehabilitation programs in addition to their living conditions when they are released from prisons as well as the type of crimes committed.

The decision was also a measure to reduce prison populations overcrowding as a result of the advice of technical experts.
