Ban on mass prayers expanded to include Addu, Fuvahmulah

Islamic Ministry, on Saturday, expended its suspension order on mass prayers in mosques to include Addu City and Fuvahmulah City.

The suspension had originally been ordered on March 18, and had applied to Male’ City, suburban Hulhumale’ and Vilimale’, and resorts.

Islamic Ministry announced this evening that mass prayers in mosques in Male’ region and resorts were to remain suspended until Asr prayer on April 30, and that  mass prayers in mosques in Addu  and Fuvahmulah were to be suspended, effective from Magrib prayer this Saturday to up until Asr prayer on April 23.

It has also ordered that mass prayers be suspended if and when any residential island is under lockdown.

Islamic Ministry had advised people to remain diligent in performing daily prayers at home, and to increase sunnah prayers, recitation of the Holy Quran and other religious practices.
