A Maldivian cargo flight landed at the Velana International Airport last night carrying more than 11 tons of cargo from Bangkok, Thailand.

PR and Marketing Manager of Maldivian, Moosa Waseem stated to “Sun” that the flight was mostly carrying perishable goods.

The national carrier is conducting cargo flights to other nations due to the difficulties faced in the import of goods into the country amid the global pandemic situation. Maldivian will be conducting such flights to Dubai, Colombo, Chennai and Trivandrum as well.

Discussions were held with importers into the country before the cargo flights were commenced and Moosa stated that the flights were being conducted according to schedule without any issues.

The airline is also conducting repatriation flights to bring back locals stranded abroad as well.
