Govt: Elderly Italian tourist tested positive for virus doing well

IGMH doctor and member of the government’s emergency response team, Dr. Moosa Muraadh has stated that the elderly Italian tourist being cared for in the Dharumavantha Hospital’s specialized care unit after testing positive for the Covid-19 is recovering and doing well.

Dr. Muraadh stated that although the tourist was moved to the hospital from the isolation facility due to a deterioration in health was now doing well and recovering. The man who was spending time in the Sandies Bathala Resort required an external oxygen supply and was moved to the DH11 facility on March 10.

Dr. Muraadh also informed that the remaining 12 patients were also in good health.

“We are waiting as per protocol to test them and obtain negative results.” said the doctor.

13 cases of the virus have been confirmed in the Maldives so far. They are all foreigners.
