Eye check-up programs for inmates at Maafushi prison

Maldives Correctional Services and Eye Care Opticals conducted an eye camp for inmates of Maafushi prison of January 24 and 31, 2020. The camp was held in the prison and eye check-ups of 88 prisons were conducted at the camp.

Maldives Corrections stated that the camp was focused on providing efficient medical care to inmates. Several inmates at the prison had requested for ophthalmology medical care and instead of transporting inmates to Male’ this was a more convenient way to provide the care, according to Corrections.

Prescription numbers for glasses as well as diagnosis and treatments were consulted by specialist doctors at the camp. Those inmates that needed additional care were also identified from the camp, according to Corrections.
