Applications have been once again opened for the post of the member appointed by the Parliament on the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

The first announcement for the post was on July 14 due to the term of then-then member Abdul Hannaan Ahmed expiring. The Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed made the announcement and stated that this was done because the first announcement for the post was made under the previous regulations of the Parliament.

Nasheed also stated that the Judicial Committee had advised for applications to be reopened since the current regulations followed by the Parliament vary in some ways to the previous regulations.

"The announcement for applications for the post (Member of JSC) will be made again. The Parliament's wish is that as many people as possible to apply for the post. If they (applicants) were interested in the previous announcement, then they should send in their applications once again. And if others are interested, they should also submit their applications" said the Speaker at the Parliament session held today.
