JSC seat for lawyers won by Maniu

Maniu Hussain has won the election held to elect a member on behalf of lawyers to the Judicial Service Commission. 

The election process conducted by the Election Commission saw more than 400 lawyers vote with five candidates taking part in the election. Maniu got 199 votes while the next closest candidate Ali Rasheed got 124 votes. 

Election results:

1) Maniu Hussain - 199 votes

2) Ali Rasheed - 124 votes

3) Abdul Azeez Jamaal Abubakuru - 37 votes

4) Haneefa Khalid - 27 votes

5) Ahmed Nasheed - 10 votes

The previous member elected by lawyers to the JSC was Latheefa Gasim who lost her seat with the newly implemented Legal Profession Bill.
