Brigadier-General Ali Zuhair retires after 30 years of military service

Coastguard Commander, Brigadier-General Ali Zuhair has retired from the Maldives National Defense Force.

Ali Zuhair was granted voluntary honorable discharge from the MNDF after over 30 years of service to the military on Thursday, July 25.

According to military retirement regulations, an officer may be honorably discharged after 20 years of service.

MNDF is yet to officially announce Ali Zuhair’s retirement.

MNDF chief spokesperson, Captain Ibrahim Azim, when asked for a comment, responded that the recruitment and discharge of military officers was an administrative task. He, however, did not deny Ali Zuhair’s retirement.

Ali Zuhair, in addition to serving as the Coastguard Commander, was also the Chairman of the Sifainge Welfare Company (SIWEC).
