Maldives launches BreatheLife Campaign to combat air pollution

Maldives has launched a national action plan by the name of BreatheLife Campaign to combat the detrimental effects of air pollution on health and wellbeing.

The campaign was launched in a ceremony held at Hotel Jen this Tuesday by Maldivian Vice President Faisal Naseem and World Health Organization’s Regional Director for South East Asia, Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh.

Health Ministry reports events to implement BreatheLife Campaign will be held in collaboration with WHO, Health Protection Agency (HPA) and Environment Ministry.

The BreatheLife Campaign national action plan comprises of policies and mechanisms to monitor policies to raise awareness on air pollution and empower civilians and communities in combatting the detrimental effects of air pollution.

The Health Ministry has appealed for public cooperation in order to make the campaign a success, and ensure Maldives becomes a nation safe from detrimental health and environmental effects of air pollution.
