Bystanders capture, beat up would-be-mugger in Male’ City

A group of bystanders captured and beat up a man who attempted to mug a migrant worker in Male’ City last Monday night.

Maldives Police Service reports the incident took place at the crossroads of Shaheed Ali Hingun and Fulooniyaa Magu at approximately 7 pm.

The mugger, who had threatened the migrant worker with a knife, has been identified as a 27-year-old Maldivian male.

Bystanders who saw the mugging in progress had captured the mugger and beat him up.

The mugger was treated for his injuries – listed as minor injuries – at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.

Maldives Police Service reports that the migrant worker targeted by the mugger did not sustain any injuries.
