Two Bangladeshi citizens have been arrested from Maldives in connection with the disappearance of a migrant worker who worked on Kurimagu Boat which travels between Sh. Lhaimagu and Male’ City.

The migrant worker was reported missing to Maldives Police Service on April 22.

Captain of Kurimagu Boat, Ali Shareef reported to ‘Sun’ that the migrant worker was discovered missing during a headcount of the boat’s crew taken prior to a trip to Male’ City.

“I discovered he was nowhere to be seen when I boarded the boat, so shared the information with the island council and left on the journey,” said Shareef.

Shareef reports the boat employed five migrant workers, and that the migrant worker who went missing had only been working on the boat for two months.

Maldives Police Service reports that officers boarded the boat as soon as it docked in Male’ City on April 22 for a search and questioning operation.

The suspects arrested in connection with the disappearance have been identified as a 30-year-old male and a 36-year-old male – both of Bangladesh nationality.
