Maldives Police Service has rescued a Bangladesh citizen who was kidnapped for ransom in Male’ City last Wednesday.

Maldives Police Service issued a statement this Thursday morning identifying the victim as a 29-year-old migrant worker from Bangladesh.

The kidnappers had called a friend of the victim and demanded for MVR 40,000 as ransom which they asked to be handed over at a location in front of Kangaroo Kids.

Police officers had intervened to arrest the man – identified as a 42-year-old male from Bangladesh – who went to the agreed location to collect the ransom money.
