Ballot papers for the upcoming parliamentary elections, in addition to security features, will also include a special stamp by the Elections Commission, says EC.
Speaking during a press conference this Saturday morning, President of EC, Ahmed Shareef announced the ballot papers for the elections will include a special stamp by the commission in addition to security features in order to reinforce the integrity of the elections.
“Elections Commission, before providing each ballot paper, will put in a special stamp. This stamp is created solely for the Parliamentary Elections 2019,” said Shareef.
Shareef said the purpose of the stamp was to ensure officials at the ballot box can easily identify the authenticity of ballot papers cast into the ballot box.
He said the decision to introduce the stamp was based on some of the issues which arose during the Presidential Elections 2018.
“The stamp will be easily visible whichever side the paper is folded,” said Shareef.
Shareef said the tender announcement for printing of the ballot papers will be issued this week.
