Ballot boxes to be at 39 resorts for parliament elections

Inside a previous election.

Elections Commission has decided to put ballot boxes in 39 resorts for the parliament election 2019. 

The parliament election is set for 6 April and candidate applications are now open. 

While the full list of voting resorts are yet to be released, member of the Elections Commission, Ahmed Akram said that ballot boxes will be placed in 39 resorts. 

He said that resorts with over 50 registering to vote during the re-registation period would receive a ballot box. And among the 39 resorts currently getting ballot boxes, they would be omitted if less than 50 people register during the re-registration period. 

Ballot boxes will also be placed at in seven countries abroad for the election; they are: 

  • Sri Lanka 
  • India 
  • Bangladesh 
  • Singapore 
  • England 
  • Thailand
  • Malaysia 

 

The total number of ballot boxes for the parliament election are yet to be decided by the Elections Commission. The re-registration for the election opens on 18 Februrary.
