Fisherman dies at sea in L. Atoll

A fisherman on board the boat, Maavehi, 24 nautical miles off the coast of L. Hithadhoo passed away unexpectedly this Saturday.

The fisherman has been identified by Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) as a 45-year-old man.

MNDF says it received a call for assistance from the boat at 9 am, after the man complained of chest pain and respiratory difficulties.

The L. Gan Regional Hospital, to where he was transported for emergency care, reports the man had already been dead when brought in to the hospital.

The body has now been transported to Hithadhoo.
