Home Minister, Sheikh Imran Abdulla, has made a visit to one of the two victims of the Villingili Police Accomodation in Gaafu Alifu atoll, Police Sergeant Mohamed Naasih, who suffered major burns.

Sheikh Imran met with Sergeant Naasih’s family on his visit at the hospital today and assured that the Maldives Police Service will take care of all medical arrangements.

A fire broke out at the Villingili Police Accommodation late last night in the room of Sergeant Naasih and another police officer, destroying the building beyond use.

Member of the Villingili Island Council, Habeeb Hassan said that it is believed that it was an electrical short circuit that ignited the fire.
