People’s Majlis has scheduled a sitting for coming Sunday, after a suspension of sittings for over two months.

The Majlis sitting is scheduled for 9 am next Sunday.

Lawmakers are scheduled to hear the Bill to abolish Anti-Defection Act, the Bill to abolish Anti-Defamation Act, and the motion to free former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed during Sunday’s sitting.

Sunday’s sitting will be presided over by the Deputy Speaker of People’s Majlis, Moosa Manik.

Moosa said he scheduled Sunday’s sitting with the permission of Speaker of People’s Majlis, Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed – against whom lawmakers have submitted a no-confidence motion.

Lawmakers are scheduled to take a vote on impeaching Maseeh on November 8.
