Founder of Jumhoory Party (JP), Qasim Ibrahim has announced contention for the vacant leadership position at JP.
The position of Leader of JP was vacated after Qasim was issued a prison sentence. And the position remained vacant when no candidate applied for the position during the last congress held by the JP.
The prison sentence against Qasim has since been squashed. And Qasim has announced contention to reclaim his former position as Leader of JP.
Qasim, who also severs as MP for Maamingili constituency, handed over his leadership application to President of JP, Ali Waheed last Wednesday.
The decision to open application for the party’s leadership position was made during a party council meeting.
The deadline for application is 3 pm on October 27.
