Water and sanitation services inaugurated at Kolamaafushi

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has inaugurated water services and sanitation services at G. A. Kolamaafushi.

The services were inaugurated by Yameen during his visit to Kolamaafushi this Wednesday afternoon.

The projects were contracted to Male Water and Sewerage Services (MWSC) and funded through a loan by OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID).

The MVR 24 million water system at Kolamaafushi includes an 8.2-kilometer water services network, two 86-ton desalination plants with a 794-ton water storage unit and 521-ton water storage unit which will provide water services to 324 households on the island.

And the MVR 31 million sanitation system includes a 7.8-kilometer sanitation network and a 250-ton sewage treatment plant which will be converted to a 500-ton sewage treatment plant in the future. It will service 324 households on the island.
