Beachgoers find 2 kilos of ‘ambergris’ from Kolamaafushi

Beachgoers in GA. Kolamaafushi have found substances believed to be ambergris from the island’s beach.

Ibrahim Waheed, the president of the Kolamaafushi Council, told Sun that beachgoers picked up four lumps of what they believe to be ambergris on Saturday.

It was first spotted by a person who went to the beach at around 10:00 am.

Ibrahim Waheed said the four lumps were picked up by three individuals.

He estimates the collective weight to be around two kilos.

Ibrahim Waheed said the individuals who picked up the lumps are working on getting it tested.
