President Yameen sends Independence Day felicitations to Trump

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has conveyed felicitations and good wishes to President Donald Trump, on the occasion of the Independence Day of the United States of America. 

In his message, President Yameen highlighted on the significance of the occasion and noted that it is a day to celebrate the freedom, history, heritage, and diversity of USA. 

Reflecting on over 50 years of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and USA, President Yameen noted that the existing bilateral ties are marked by good will and understanding and expressed his gratitude for the generous support and assistance that USA has extended towards the developmental efforts of the Maldives.

President Yameen emphasized that the Maldives attaches high importance to its relations with USA. The President further expressed his wishes to bolster the working partnership between the Maldives and USA for the mutual benefit of both countries and peoples. 

The Independence Day commemorates the day USA gained independence from the British Empire following the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on 4 July 1776.
