President underscores shared commitment to peace and prosperity in Independence Day message to Trump

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended greetings to United States President Donald J. Trump, the government, and the American people on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of US Independence.

In his message, President Muizzu noted that this year carries added significance for both nations, as it also marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Maldives and the United States. He noted how the relationship has grown steadily over the past six decades, rooted in mutual respect, enduring friendship, and a shared commitment to advancing peace and prosperity, principles the President highlighted as the foundation of the long‑standing partnership.

The President stated that Maldives deeply values its relationship with the United States and remains committed to further enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, as mentioned in this order: 'security and defence, trade and economic development, education, and people‑to‑people exchanges'.

President Muizzu concluded his message by expressing hope of continuing close engagement with President Trump to deepen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries in the years ahead.
