Dozens of Romanians repatriated from Gaza

BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Dozens of Romanians have been repatriated from the Gaza Strip after requesting help fleeing the conflict.

The foreign ministry said 84 Romanians and their family who live in Gaza arrived at an air base north of Bucharest Monday from Amman, Jordan on military transport aircraft sent by the government. The operation was coordinated by the foreign ministry, the defense ministry and the prime minister's office.

More than 175 people have been killed in Hamas-controlled Gaza in Israeli air attacks since the bombardment began last week, Palestinian officials say.

The outbreak of violence followed the kidnappings and killings of three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank last month, and the subsequent kidnapping and killing of a Palestinian teenager in an apparent revenge attack.
