Ahmed Shafneez has been appointed as the new Deputy Tax Commissioner.
In a post on X, MIRA congratulated Shafneez on his appointment on Tuesday and extended a warm welcome as he assumes the role.
Shafneez previously served as the Admin and Director General of MIRA’s Finance Department. The post of Deputy Tax Commissioner became vacant following the appointment of Fathimath Ameeza as Tax Commissioner last July. As required by law, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu sent the names of three candidates for the position to Parliament earlier this month.
The candidates forwarded were Ahmed Mausoom, Mariyam Jaidha Maumoon and Ahmed Shafneez, all of whom were deemed qualified for the post. Parliament voted on the nominations on Monday this week and passed Shafneez’s name.
