Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Wang expressed hope that the donated streetlights would have a positive impact on the lives of the Maldivian people.
The Ambassador noted that solar streetlights previously donated by China had already been installed on three islands. He added that the latest donation would enable installations on additional islands, supporting the government’s efforts to transition the Maldives towards renewable energy.
The current administration aims to meet 33 percent of the country’s energy needs through renewable sources by 2028.
