A man accused of threatening and terrorizing his family members with dangerous weapons, including knives, scissors and stick, has been ordered to be remanded in custody for 15 days.
The arrest warrant was issued for Zahir Ali-Didi, 44, of Lillies, HA. Hoarafushi. According to the Criminal Court’s remand order issued Saturday, he was ordered to remain in custody because he poses a threat to the safety of the community. The court highlighted the use of dangerous weapons and noted that family members reported being harmed after he threatened them with a knife.
Under the order issued by Judge Ibrahim Zihuny, Zahir Ali-Didi was remanded for 15 days pending further investigation.
In another such recent case, a man was sentenced to one month and 24 days in jail for assaulting his sibling on a southern island.
