Maldives Police Service states the motorcycle involved in the serious collision early Wednesday morning which was carrying three individuals is likely to have been stolen.
According to the Police, the accident between two motorcycles on Nirolhu Magu in Hulhumalé Phase II was reported at approximately 2:55am on Wednesday morning. Five individuals sustained injuries of varying severity in the collision and are currently undergoing medical treatment.
One of the motorcycles involved accident in Hulhumalé was carrying three individuals with the said motorcycle, crashing into another, carrying two individuals.
In a new update, the Police said that the motorcycle carrying the three individuals was being driven against the flow of traffic on a one-way road. The Police also confirmed that the person driving the motorcycle did not hold a valid license for the relevant category of vehicle.
The Police further noted that four of the five individuals injured in the collision remain in serious condition. All five of them were initially treated at Hulhumalé Hospital before being transferred to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for further medical treatment.
The case is under further investigation by the Police.
