The condition of the young man who sustained serious injuries after falling into the sea with his motorbike during a racing event in L. Gan has shown slight improvement, however, he is reportedly still unable to speak properly and requires further medical treatment urgently.

The 20-year-old Maldivian sustained the injuries during the ‘Racing Championship - Laamu Edition,’ held on September 20th. The Police confirmed that they received a report at approximately 9:54am that day stating that a participant had lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the sea.

After initially receiving treatment at Gan Regional Hospital, the victim was transferred to Malé the following day due to the severity of his injuries. He was subsequently put on ventilator support at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Family members said that while his condition has stabilized to some extent, doctors have recommended that further specialized treatment be arranged as soon as possible, as he remains unable to communicate verbally.

The Police are currently investigating the incident to establish the exact cause of the crash and examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
