A man has been convicted and sentenced to jail for climbing onto the roof of STO People’s Choice and destroying three outdoor AC units.

The sentence was handed down against Mohamed Shiuneez, Yellowhouse / S. Feydhoo, after prosecutors filed two charges: knowingly entering an unauthorized place and damage to property.

According to the court’s findings, on May 18, 2026, Shiuneez climbed onto the roof without STO’s permission, thereby knowingly entering an unauthorized place. While on the roof, he damaged three outdoor AC units, causing significant property loss.

The Criminal Court heard both cases together. The evidence and documents submitted by the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that Shiuneez committed the offences. He was convicted of knowingly entering an unauthorized place under Article 230 of the Penal Code, and of damage to property under Article 220. The court sentenced him to two months and 28 days in jail for the first offence, and three months in jail for damage to property, and ordered him to pay compensation for the losses caused.
