The visit follows a similar trip to Fuvahmulah City, where Yameen also held town hall meetings and met with members of the local community.
Yameen has publicly announced his intention to contest the 2028 presidential election. He was unable to contest the 2023 presidential election after the Elections Commission rejected his candidacy while he was serving an 11-year prison sentence.
