The total amount of property zakat received in July this year stood at MVR 17.37 million, according to the Zakat House.
This is a 44.2 percent increase compared to July last year.
Statistics show the Zakat Fund received MVR 12,040,524.09 as property zakat in July last year. The figure increased to MVR 17,366,787.29 this July, a year‑on‑year rise of approximately MVR 5.33 million.
According to the Zakat House, property zakat collections have increased, and MVR 2.80 million was disbursed from the Zakat Fund in July.
The largest expenditure was on the poor and needy, with MVR 1.75 million allocated for the category. Of this amount, MVR 1.48 million was disbursed as medical assistance, MVR 115,250 for essential needs, and MVR 155,950 for basic housing support.
Since the establishment of Zakat House as a separate agency, the proportion of zakat revenue has increased significantly.
