BML announces five recipients of MVR 200K under the ‘Bank Fund 2026’

Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the recipients of ‘Bank Fund 2026’, an initiative designed to empower non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and support sustainable community development projects across the Maldives.

The recipients of this year’s Bank Fund are:

• Dhidhdhoo Kurimagu: Establishing HIVE, a Digital Innovation and Community Resilience Hub in HA. Dhidhdhoo, which will provide a dedicated space for digital learning, innovation and community-based activities.

• Unity Sports Academy: Restoring the freshwater pond and developing the Maamuli Eco Park in Sh. Funadhoo to promote environmental conservation and enhance community use.

• Laamu Farmers Association: Establishing the Fahigovaan Value-Added Agro-Processing Hub in L. Fonadhoo and Gan to support local farmers, strengthen livelihoods and promote climate-smart agricultural practices.

• Blue Guild Foundation: Establishing a small-scale makerspace at Sh. Atoll School to give students hands-on opportunities to develop creativity, innovation and practical skills.

• Kalaidhoo Wings: Developing ‘Kalaidhoo Wings Hiyaa’ near the Kalaidhoo Jetty, featuring a waiting area, feeding room, washrooms, a small library and a digital notice board.

The ‘Bank Fund’ is an annual programme under which five proposals submitted to the bank are selected each year to receive MVR 200,000 in funding. Through the initiative, BML continues to support local communities and promote sustainable development across the Maldives. To date, BML has funded 14 projects through the ‘Bank Fund’, in addition to providing funding for 100 projects under its previous Community Fund initiative.
