The Maafannu Futsal Ground in Male’ City was reopened on Sunday following renovation works carried out over the past months.
Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu officiated the reopening at a ceremony held at the Maafannu Futsal Ground. The event was attended by Maafannu West MP Musthafa Ibrahim, Road Development Corporation (RDC) Managing Director Ibrahim Nazeem, and a large number of youth from the area.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Rafiu said futsal grounds established by the government in the Greater Male' region are heavily used by young people throughout the day. He said ensuring these facilities remain safe, well-maintained and suitable for play is a key priority of the government.

He added that the newly reopened Maafannu Futsal Ground will now be available for youth in the district, noting that the long-term usability of such public facilities depends on everyone fulfilling their individual responsibilities while using them.
The Maafannu Futsal Ground was closed for renovation last year, with practical work beginning in December. The upgraded ground was officially handed over to RDC on the 4th of this month.
