Former Fenaka Managing Director Muaz Mohamed Rasheed has been appointed Deputy Managing Director of Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), Sun has learned.

Muaz, who served as the first Managing Director of Fenaka under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration, resigned from the post on December 23, 2024. According to information obtained by Sun, MWSC has approved his appointment to the company’s board.

In his resignation letter, Muaz said he was satisfied with “producing positive results in efforts to provide uninterrupted services to the public despite the numerous challenges the corporation faced” during his one-year tenure. He wrote that plans formulated to save Fenaka had been shared with relevant authorities, but “no light has been seen.”

Muaz said he stepped down because the corporation had fallen into a situation where it could no longer operate sustainably, and he did not see a way to improve the situation further with his continued presence.

Following his resignation, an X account supporting the president accused him of corruption, allegations Muaz has denied.
