A tourist who drifted away while snorkelling at a resort in Kaafu atoll has been rescued by police.
The incident occurred this afternoon.
Police “Launch 54”, which was on an official trip from Male' to Dh. Vaanee, spotted a man floating in the sea at around 14:26 pm.
He was identified as a Chinese tourist holidaying at a resort in Kaafu atoll.
Police said he had been swept nearly a mile away from the resort.
When the police launch noticed the tourist, officers immediately lifted him from the sea and provided first aid. The police team then transported him safely back to the resort.
Police said the tourist was in good health when he was returned to the resort.
