The two arrested in the stabbing death of a man inside the ‘Krasa’ shop in Male' city on February 24, 2023.
The appeal against the Criminal Court’s decision to acquit two men in the stabbing death of a man inside the ‘Krasa’ shop on Muranga Magu, Maafannu, is set to begin in the High Court.
The incident occurred on February 24, 2023, at 21:28, when a group of people entered the Krasa shop and stabbed 30‑year‑old Mohamed Ahmed Didi (Nautte). He died on February 27 while undergoing treatment at IGMH.
The prosecution charged two men in connection with the killing:
Ibrahim Faih Nizam, Rahdhebaige / S. Maradhoo Feydhoo
Shirhan Ali, Guleynoorahmaage / Th. Gaadhifushi
Both were acquitted by the Criminal Court in April. The state has since appealed the ruling, and the High Court is scheduled to hear the case on Tuesday.
The intentional homicide charge involving the use of a sharp object was decided by Criminal Court Judge Ibrahim Ihusaan.
One of the defendants, Faih Nizam, was arrested in the case after five individuals were detained on suspicion of harbouring him.
