The Maldives Customs Service has seized a large number of vape cartridges hidden inside a shipment of Mr. Potato brand potato chips imported into the Maldives by sea.
Customs said Tuesday that the items were seized during a special operation conducted at the Male' Commercial Harbour on June 14 and 15.
Among the shipments inspected during the operation, officers found 1,108 vape cartridges concealed inside potato chips cans and chocolate powder packets. In addition, 27 vape devices were also recovered, Customs said.

The seized items have been taken into custody, and Customs is conducting further investigations into the illegal smuggling attempt.
Customs said it continues to conduct strong operations to prevent the entry of prohibited and illegal goods into the Maldives.
