Mohamed Firaq, CEO of Inner Maldives and a renowned expert in aviation and tourism, has underscored the importance of adopting stronger measures to attract tourists to the Maldives during the summer season.
He expressed concern over a possible slowdown in market growth in the coming months, attributing it to a lack of strategic direction and insufficient promotional efforts within the tourism sector.
Firaq pointed to a troubling trend in which several Asian airlines are reportedly reducing the frequency of their flights to the Maldives. He warned that diminished air connectivity could have a considerable impact on tourist arrival figures.
Describing the situation as a significant challenge for the Maldivian tourism industry, Firaq told Sun that the sector must now reassess its approach and place greater emphasis on strengthening key markets. He cautioned that failure to intensify marketing efforts could result in long-term negative consequences for the industry. He also stressed the importance of preserving the Maldives’ competitiveness in an increasingly dynamic global tourism market.
"I believe this is the time to shift our perspective, adapt to new market realities, and bolster our marketing initiatives to ensure sustained growth. We must remain competitive in the global tourism landscape," Firaq stated.
As a prominent figure in the tourism and aviation sectors, Firaq remains actively engaged in industry discussions, regularly sharing expert analysis and recommendations aimed at strengthening and advancing the sector.
