Man sentenced to 15 years in prison for molesting multiple children

A man from southern Maldives has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was found guilty of sexually abusing multiple children.

Sharafulla Ismail, 43, Muraka, GA. Kudahuvadhoo, was tried under Special l Provisions Act to Deal with Sexual Abuse Offenders of Children.

The court found Sharafulla guilty of the charges, and sentenced him to 15 years in prison on April 30.

Details regarding the case have not been disclosed as it involves child victims.

In a statement on Tuesday, the police described the conviction as a win for the agency in its efforts to reduce crime and make the Maldives a safe place.
