The Ministry of Urban Development has announced that Sultan Park will be closed at specific times each day as part of ongoing renovation works.

In an announcement issued Sunday, the ministry said additional components of the Sultan Park renovation project will be carried out starting this week. As a result, the park will be closed to the public from 18:00 every day while the work continues.

Many people have expressed concern over the deterioration of public spaces such as Sultan Park and Rasfannu.

Last February, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu also said he regretted the condition of Rasfannu and Sultan Park, and pledged to revive both locations.

The development of Sultan Park was transferred to the ministry on February 19 last year. The park was previously under the Male' City Council, but was handed over as preparations for renovation began, according to the council.

Renovation work at Sultan Park began in February, and the government had earlier stated that the project would be completed and reopened by Eid.

The President has said Sultan Park will be developed in a way that reflects local identity while incorporating modern technology.
