There was a power outage in some areas of Hulhumale' Phase II at around 14:00 on Saturday.

STELCO said at 14:30 that the outage was caused by a technical problem and that the issue was being investigated.

According to STELCO, power outages were reported at Hiyaa Towers 5, 6 and 7, Vinares 10, Amaan Dhoadhi 12 to 16, Amaan Udhares 5 and 6, and the MPL towers.

The company said the outage was caused by a high‑voltage cable being damaged during road construction work.

On the 12th of this month, a number of towers in Hulhumale' Phase II experienced power outages lasting more than eight hours after a main cable was damaged during construction work.

STELCO has met with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to find a permanent solution to the repeated power outages in the second phase.
