Abdulla Nasheed, an incumbent Family Court judge, is set to be appointed as the Court's chief judge.
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to appoint Abdulla Nasheed, an incumbent Family Court judge, as the Court's chief judge.
In a statement on Monday, the Commission said Judge Nasheed was recommended for the role following interviews with applicants for the post. JSC confirmed Judge Nasheed’s appointment was finalized during a meeting held earlier today.
Judge Nasheed holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from the Islamic University of Maldives and a Bachelor of Shariah and Law from Kulliyathul Dhiraasathul Islamiyya.
Over the course of his career, he has held several positions in the judiciary, including Magistrate and Chief Magistrate of the N. Manadhoo Magistrate Court, and Chief Magistrate of the Noonu Judicial Sector. He has also served as a judge of the Criminal Court and currently serves on the Family Court bench.
With more than 21 years of experience in the judiciary, Judge Nasheed was first appointed as a Family Court judge on March 24, 2016.
