Twelve weddings are scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the Family Court.

Marriage ceremonies coinciding with unique or memorable dates have become increasingly popular in the Maldives. In keeping with this trend, the Family Court often sees a surge in weddings on such dates.

The court said on Saturday that 12 weddings are booked for 26-07-2026.

The Family Court previously stated that between 50 and 80 marriages are typically performed on special dates. In recent years, several memorable dates have seen high numbers of weddings, including 21-12-21 in December 2021, when 57 marriages were conducted. On 22-02-22, the court performed 85 marriages, and on 26-06-26 last month, 50 weddings were held, marking the highest singleday total so far this year.

Meanwhile, the Male’ City Council has recently decided to allocate free public spaces in the city for newlyweds who cannot afford to book venues for their receptions. The council said priority will be given to couples with financial constraints.
