The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has published the names of 48 companies that have failed to file their tax returns up to 2024, including several construction firms, resort operators and major retailers.

The list, released on Monday, includes SJ Trade Pvt Ltd, South Palm Maldives, perfume retailer Pois Distributors, Plumera Hotels and Resorts, computer retailer Megachip Electronics, and hardware supplier AH Brothers, among others.

MIRA stated that these companies have outstanding tax return submissions for past years up to 2024. The authority has not yet disclosed how many of them have filed returns for 2025 up to March last year.

Before making the names public, MIRA said it had notified all non‑compliant companies of the legal action that may be taken against them, and had issued multiple reminders via phone calls and SMS.

The authority added that it will proceed with necessary enforcement measures to recover unpaid taxes and any outstanding amounts owed to the state.
