The newly elected members of local councils will be taking their oath of office on May 17, according to the Local Government Authority (LGA).
A spokesperson from LGA told Sun that the five-year term of incumbent councilors expires on May 17.
The newly elected councilors will therefore be taking their oath the same day, confirmed the spokesperson.
The spokesperson said that the May 17 ceremony will first involve the swearing in of councilor-elects, after which the newly elected members of women’s development committees will sign their agreement.
The exact time for the ceremony will be decided after consulting with judges and councilors, said the spokesperson.
The local council elections and women’s development committee elections was held on April 4. 681 candidates were elected to councils, and another 681 to committees.
