The part of Ameenee Magu located behind the Harbor Food Court, which was the final segment to be paved with asphalt, has been damaged to a state that poses significant risks to motorists.

The paving of this final segment of Ameenee Magu was completed approximately two years ago, after the current administration assumed office

The Ameenee Magu redevelopment project was originally awarded to the Road Development Corporation (RDC) during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration, for a total of MVR 84.4 million.

Since its completion, this area has become one of the most heavily trafficked part of the road as a two-way, frequently used by various vehicles, including large double-decker buses traveling in both directions.

This part of road behind the food court previously saw the asphalt surface form potholes and buckle and rise to form wave-like pattern.

Following public attention to the matter, renovations were carried out last September to address those defects.

However, the area has become significantly damaged once again.

On both lanes of the road, the asphalt has noticeably buckled and lifted in multiple areas, creating hazardous conditions for commuters. These raised sections pose a serious risk, as vehicles encountering them suddenly may skid or, in extreme cases, overturn.

Despite the road remaining in this hazardous condition for several days, members of the public have expressed concern that the relevant authorities have yet to commence any repair work.

While the condition of this section of Ameenee Magu continues to deteriorate, Notably, state-owned enterprise Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is currently focused on the redevelopment and modernization of Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
