Former Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) CEO Ibrahim Ziyath has been appointed as the Deputy CEO of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).

MPL announced his appointment on Monday, welcoming him to the company’s senior management team.

Ziyath previously served as MTCC’s CEO during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. He is also the brother of former Auditor General Hassan Ziyath and former MMPRC Managing Director Abdulla Ziyath.

Ziyath has faced past corruption allegations linked to the recruitment of foreign workers for MTCC projects. In October 2021, the Anti‑Corruption Commission (ACC) forwarded a case to the Prosecutor General’s Office seeking charges against him in relation to the matter.
