Applications open for Indian scholarships in cultural and technical fields

The Higher Education Ministry has opened applications for scholarships in India across six fields, including culture, under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scheme for 2026–2027.

According to the ministry, the ICCR has offered 10 scholarship slots for Maldivian students this year. Final selection will be made by the Council for Cultural Relations of India.

Applications must be submitted by 15 April.

The scholarships are available for Bachelor’s‑level studies in the following areas:

  • Engineering and technology  

  • Science and agriculture  

  • History and culture  

  • Business  

  • Herbal medicine, including Ayurveda  

  • Traditional Indian dance and traditional Indian music  

A total of 134 universities in India are eligible under the scheme.

The ministry has advised selected students to ensure that both the institution and the chosen programme are MQA‑accredited before departure. Students pursuing fields that require professional licensing in the Maldives must also confirm that their course is offered at a centre recognised by the relevant Maldivian authorities.
